Enclomiphene Capsule
How Enclomiphene supports healthy testosterone care
Enclomiphene Citrate is an oral capsule offered in two strengths, 25 mg and 51 mg. It is a different medication from testosterone and is not interchangeable with testosterone injections or cream. Testosterone therapy is not one-size-fits-all. Your provider uses your symptoms, history, and lab results to decide whether treatment fits and which formulation makes sense.
Lab-informed decisions
Your provider reviews existing labs or orders new ones to confirm whether low testosterone is present before recommending anything.
Several formulation options
Injectable, topical, and oral options are available through our pharmacy network. Your provider explains why one may suit you better than another.
Ongoing follow-up
Your provider checks in on how you are responding and adjusts your plan over time rather than writing a single prescription and moving on.
Provider-guided from start to finish
A licensed provider reviews your health history, checks for contraindications, sets an appropriate starting plan, and monitors your progress over time.
How to use it
Clear instructions for your specific formulation arrive with your first order.

Medication guide
What to know about Enclomiphene Capsule
General education to help you prepare for a conversation with a licensed provider. It is not a prescription or personal medical advice.
- Generic name
- Enclomiphene citrate
- Drug class
- Selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM)
- Form
- Capsule taken by mouth
- Regulatory status
- Not FDA-approved for any use
Enclomiphene is not FDA-approved for any use. It is one of the two components of clomiphene citrate (Clomid), which is FDA-approved for ovulation problems in women. Enclomiphene capsules are compounded, and their quality and consistency have not been reviewed by FDA.
Compounded medications are not FDA-approved. FDA does not review them for safety, effectiveness or quality before they are dispensed. A compounded preparation can differ from approved products in strength, ingredients, dosage form and how it is absorbed, so it should not be assumed to work the same way as an approved medication. Compounding is meant for patients whose needs cannot be met by an FDA-approved drug.
Overview
Enclomiphene is used in some men with low testosterone, especially those who want to preserve fertility, to prompt the body to make more of its own testosterone.
Who may be evaluated for it
- Men with low testosterone caused by low brain signals (secondary hypogonadism) who want to maintain sperm production.
Who may not be a good fit
- Men with primary testicular failure (the testicles cannot respond to stronger signals).
- Men with a history of blood clots, liver disease or visual problems with similar medicines.
- Women who are pregnant.
How it works
Estrogen normally tells the brain to slow down the hormones that drive testosterone production. Enclomiphene blocks estrogen receptors in the brain, so the pituitary releases more LH and FSH. The testicles then make more testosterone and sperm.
Potential benefits and realistic timelines
What the evidence supports
- Clinical trials submitted for approval showed enclomiphene raised testosterone while maintaining sperm counts, unlike testosterone injections or gel.
Not established
- Long-term safety, and whether higher testosterone from enclomiphene improves symptoms as much as testosterone therapy.
- FDA did not approve it, and data on compounded products is lacking.
- 2 to 6 weeksTestosterone levels usually rise within several weeks.
- About 3 monthsSymptoms and sperm production are typically reassessed.
Results vary from person to person. Your provider decides whether and how long to continue.
How it’s used
- Taken by mouth on the schedule your provider sets, at about the same time of day.
If you miss a dose
Take it when you remember the same day; otherwise skip it. Do not double up.
Storage and handling
Room temperature in a closed container.
Your prescription label and provider instructions always take priority over this general information. Do not change your dose or stop without talking to your provider.
Side effects and safety
More common, usually manageable
- Headache
- Hot flashes
- Nausea
- Mood changes or irritability
Less common but serious
- Visual disturbances such as blurring or spots (reported with clomiphene)
- Blood clots
- High red blood cell count
Get medical help right away
- Any vision change: stop and contact your provider
- Leg swelling and pain, or sudden chest pain or breathlessness
Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room for chest pain, trouble breathing, swelling of the face or throat, fainting, or signs of a stroke (sudden weakness, numbness, trouble speaking or seeing).
Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility
Not for use in pregnancy. In men, it is used partly because it tends to preserve sperm production.
Interactions and combinations
Known interactions
- Avoid combining with other estrogen modulators (such as clomiphene or tamoxifen) unless directed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is enclomiphene FDA-approved?
No. It was studied for male hypogonadism but has not been approved.
How is it different from testosterone?
Testosterone replaces the hormone and usually suppresses sperm. Enclomiphene prompts your body to make its own, which tends to preserve sperm.
What if my vision changes?
Stop taking it and contact your provider promptly.
Do I need a prescription?
Yes. After your free consultation, a licensed provider reviews your intake and relevant lab work to decide whether testosterone therapy is appropriate for you.
Will I need lab work?
Your provider will review existing labs or order new ones to confirm whether low testosterone is present before recommending treatment.
What if a provider decides this isn’t right for me?
Your consultation is free. If a provider decides testosterone therapy isn’t appropriate for you, they will explain why and may suggest other options.
Can I use my HSA or FSA?
Yes. Medura accepts HSA and FSA cards at checkout, and we can provide documentation for reimbursement if you need it.
How is it shipped?
Your treatment arrives in plain, unbranded packaging with no pharmacy name on the outside. Temperature-sensitive items ship with cold-chain protection.
What happens after I request treatment through Medura?
You complete an online assessment about your health history, current medications and goals. A licensed provider reviews it and decides whether a prescription is appropriate. Completing the assessment does not guarantee a prescription. If one is written, a licensed pharmacy prepares and ships it, and your provider can adjust or stop treatment as needed. If lab work is needed, your provider will tell you; it may be ordered and billed separately.
